Just like in the USA, Easter is kind of a big deal in France. The Easter egg hunt transcends cultures as well, French children search for colorfully decorated les oeufs de Pâques hidden in their gardens, homes and playgrounds.
The French take Pâques seriously; Easter Monday is a national holiday in France, meaning we don’t have work tomorrow! For those of us who are a little too old to do the egg hunt, it’s possible to spend hours and hours just walking through the streets of a French city looking for the chocolatiers. Easter is a great time for these chocolate makers to display their artistic skills; I’ve never seen eggs or rabbits that look more like art than chocolate.
